All caravan parks and camping grounds must comply with the requirements under the Caravan Parks and Camping Grounds Act 1995 and Caravan Parks and Camping Grounds Regulations 1997 and must be registered with the City.

The City's Health Service inspects registered Caravan Parks within the district to assess compliance with relevant legislation.

Please note that a person may only camp:

  • for up to 3 nights in any period of 28 consecutive days on land which they own or has a legal right to occupy unless they get approval from the City for up to 3 months.
  • for up to 24 consecutive hours in a caravan on a road side rest area
  • for up to 24 consecutive hours in a caravan on a road reserve in an emergency (unless it is causing a hazard)
