The City’s Public Health Local Law 2017 require an owner or occupier of land or premises to not allow or permit the escape of fumes, odours or other emissions from the property in such a quantity or nature to cause a nuisance. They also do not allow floodlights or other exterior lights to shine directly onto any other premises.

If a neighbour is engaging in any activity on their residential property, they should do so in a manner which does not create a nuisance and cause or permit the emission of dust, fumes, odours, light or liquid waste.

If your neighbour is creating a nuisance in relation to dust, fumes, odours, light or liquid waste ask your neighbour to stop or reduce the nuisance. If this approach fails contact the City’s Compliance Section on 9397 3000 for assistance.
