What encouraged you to become a volunteer?
I saw the great work that the bush fire brigade does during fire emergencies.
Tell us about an average day in your volunteer role?
There is no average day, the brigade responds to emergency call outs such as bushfires. However, we are sometimes called out to assist the Department of Fire and Emergency Services with other fire jobs!
Why do you volunteer and what do you personally gain from volunteering?
I volunteer because I want to help people and I have some spare time, the City also supports my attendance at emergencies during work time. I have also learned other skills that I would not normally be exposed to.
What is your greatest achievement as a Volunteer?
My greatest achievement is becoming part of the team of volunteer Bush Fire Fighters; the brigade has been responsible for saving lives, properties and animals both within the City of Gosnells and other areas.
