Working to help the City of Gosnells plan for future growth, the Local Planning Strategy is a key strategic urban land use document. It works to set out the City's objectives for future planning though a broad framework of coordinated, sustainable developments.
In keeping consistent with urban planning documents the strategy considers environmental, economic, social issues; census data and community input and provides direct vision particularly in the areas of housing, transport and employment.
The City has developed the Local Planning Strategy from several sub planning strategies including:
- Activity Centres Planning Strategy
- Foothills Rural Strategy
- Local Housing Strategy
- Public Open Space Strategy
- Heritage Strategy
The Local Planning Strategy was endorsed by council at its meeting on 23 February 2021 and has been sent to the Western Australian Planning Commission for final approval from the Minister for Planning.
