The foreshore of Djarlgarra (the Canning River) in John Okey Davis park has been substantially improved from its highly degraded, weed-infested condition.

With the help of the Swan River Trust's Riverbank grants program, the City of Gosnells and the Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group have brought about a huge change through this ongoing rehabilitation project.

Since 2003, more than 54,000 trees, shrubs and sedges have been planted. All work has been coordinated by the City and the Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group, with lots of hard work by many many volunteers.

Fringing sedges are now starting to hold the banks together, and a floodplain woodland of Paperbarks, Flooded Gums and Candle Banksias is starting to dominate the scene.
