We value the community's role in protecting and caring for our environment.

New members are welcome to get involved in activities run by these groups:

  • Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group (AGLG) is a partnership between the City of Gosnells and City of Armadale, who jointly fund the community landcare coordinator.
  • The South East Regional Centre for Urban Landcare (SERCUL) was formed in 2003 as an independent Natural Resource Management body to bring together the community, business and government in the south of Perth to improve the health of local waterways and ecosystems. It covers Djarlgarra (the Canning River), the Southern-Wungong River and their tributaries and parts of Derbarl Yaragan (the Swan River).
  • The Friends of Mary Carroll Park Wetlands have been active for more than 20 years. They are busy with revegetation, weed control, education, litter cleanup, seed collecting, and turtle and frog monitoring.
  • Black Cockatoo Preservation Society runs the Kaarakin rehabilitation centre on the former Cohunu Wildlife Park site on Mills Road East, in Martin. Volunteers recover injured or sick birds from anywhere in WA and transport them to Perth Zoo for specialist medical care. After initial treatment, birds are released back to Kaarakin. When ready, they are released to their flocks from where they came, or kept at Kaarakin to form new flocks for release as a group into the wild.
