Huntingdale residents will have an opportunity to connect with their neighbours and get some tips on increasing community safety at the next City of Gosnells Your Neighbourhood event, in the September-October school holidays.
Your Neighbourhood events are free, family friendly gatherings that encourage residents to get to know their neighbours and meet local police and Neighbourhood Watch volunteers.
The City will be hosting four Your Neighbourhood events in 2023/24, with the first at Sutherlands Park in Huntingdale, from 10am to 1pm on Thursday 28 September.
Other events will be held in Southern River in November, Gosnells in March and Thornlie in April next year.
City of Gosnells Mayor Terresa Lynes said the Your Neighbourhood events had become popular in suburbs across the City.
“Simply getting to know your neighbours is one step we can all take to boost community safety and these free, family friendly events are a great way for people to do just that,” she said.
The first event in this series will be held by the new playground at Sutherlands Park, near the corner of Balfour Street and Gay Street, Huntingdale.
Mayor Lynes said there will be a range of family activities and a free sausage sizzle for the first 200 people.
“I recommend you get there early to make the most of this great opportunity to connect with others and maybe make some new friends,” she said.
“Everyone who attends can go into the draw to win a free video doorbell and there will be free ice creams or drink vouchers for the first 100 people to complete a short Your Neighbourhood Passport survey.”
The WA Police Force and Constable Care will be at the event, along with Gosnells District Neighbourhood Watch volunteers, staff from the City’s Senior Services, Youth and Families, and Ranger Services teams, plus members of the local Men’s Shed.
Residents are encouraged to walk or cycle to their local Your Neighbourhood event as parking at venues is limited.
