Streets in the City of Gosnells will shine bright again this festive season as residents take part in the annual Safe City Christmas Lights Competition.

Mayor Terresa Lynes encouraged residents to take part by decorating their homes and front gardens or collaborating with neighbours to enter the Best Decorated Street Category.

“It’s wonderful to see our community get right behind the City’s Christmas lights competition each year and I’m looking forward to seeing the spectacular displays from our residents,” she said.

“Whether you’re decorating your house or viewing the lights display, our Safe City Christmas Lights are a great way to celebrate the festive season locally – and there are some great prizes to be won.”

Entries in the Safe City Christmas Lights Competition close on Sunday 4 December, with the winners announced at the City’s Jingle All the Way Christmas event on Saturday 10 December.

The competition, presented by Beyond Bank, is open to City of Gosnells residents only.

Categories and prizes include:

• Best Decorated Street – $1,000 prize plus commemorative street sign (minimum of five houses)

• Best Private Residence – $500 prize

• Best First Time Entry – $100 prize

• Runners up – $100 prizes

• Random draws – $50 prizes

This year, entrants are asked to submit photos of their Christmas lights display as part of their entry.

Mayor Lynes encouraged residents viewing the lights display to be courteous of pedestrians and neighbours and drive safely.
