Now is your chance to nominate a person or organisation that makes the City of Gosnells a better place to live, as part of the annual Community Citizen of the Year Awards.

Mayor Terresa Lynes said the awards, to be announced on Australia Day 2024, were an important way to acknowledge the contributions of people in our community who go above and beyond to support others.

“There are many people across the City of Gosnells who make our suburbs better places to live, work, study and visit, and who deserve to be recognised for their efforts,” she said.

“Nominating a person or community group for a Community Citizen of the Year Award is the ultimate thank you. Through these awards, we have acknowledged some truly amazing local citizens and groups in recent years, and we look forward to meeting more when the awards are announced in January.”

The awards, run through Auspire, the Australia Day Council of Western Australia, are designed to recognise people who significantly contribute to their community, show leadership, bring about positive changes or act as an inspiring role model for others.

Groups or events that are nominated should create community engagement, provide employment opportunities or bring about positive changes in the community.

There are four categories:
• Community Citizen of the Year – for individuals over 16 years
• Young Community Citizen of the Year – for individuals aged 16 to 30 years
• Senior Community Citizen of the Year – for individuals aged 65 years and over
• Active Citizenship Awards – for community groups or events

Nominations close Tuesday 31 October.
