Ghost Walks wins WA Heritage Award

City of Gosnells Ghost Walks continues its spook-tacular success, winning a coveted 2023 WA Heritage Award from the Heritage Council of Western Australia.

Mayor Terresa Lynes said the popular annual event series won the Interpretation Project category, competing against heritage projects across the State.

“Ghost Walks brings our rich local history to life, welcoming hundreds of community members each year to explore heritage sites by moonlight, where they meet ‘ghosts’ of local historical figures,” she said.

“It is an entertaining and memorable way to immerse yourself in history and we are very pleased to have been recognised in this way by the Heritage Council of Western Australia.

“Tickets will soon be released for the 2024 Ghost Walks series, so book your spot quickly before they all disappear.”

Earlier this year, the City reimagined Ghost Walks to include new ghostly characters and locations at historic Wilkinson Homestead and Kenwick Pioneer Cemetery. It was a success, with participants leaving in great spirits.

In July, the City also won a National Award for Local Government in the Creativity and Culture category for Ghost Walks.

Up to 14 performers participate in each Ghost Walks event, plus guides and staff,
providing opportunities for local residents and volunteers to join the cast and crew,
researching, developing and performing historically accurate scripts.

In 2024, Ghost Walks will be held on three Fridays – 19 January, 23 February and 22 March.

Tickets are $28.90 for adults and $10.50 for children. Ghost Walks is recommended for people aged over 10 years of age.

Tickets will be released via gosnells.wa.gov.au on Tuesday 31 October.
