Celebrate diversity at the City of Gosnells Fusion Food and Culture Festival over two huge nights from 5pm to 9pm on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 November, at Mills Park, Beckenham.
The City’s most popular annual community celebration will include a wide variety of multicultural performances across two stages, culminating each night in a spectacular fireworks finale.
Mayor Terresa Lynes said Fusion was better each year, attracting tens of thousands of visitors from across the City and beyond.
“Clear your calendar and save the dates, because there is plenty to be excited about at this year’s Fusion Food and Culture Festival,” she said.
“Moving among the crowds at this year’s festival will be The Guardian, a 10-metre-long glowing puppet, reminiscent of a crystal lion, which will be brought to life with smoke, wind and lighting effects by eight puppeteers.
“Global Village will be expanded to include the Viva Stage, showing a range of music, traditional dance, costumes, arts and crafts, plus displays and presentations by local multicultural groups.
“Of course, there will also be plenty of delicious food from around the world to enjoy, so be sure to bring your friends, family and appetite.”
Sideshow Alley will return with carnival rides and attractions subsidised by the City of Gosnells. Visitors can purchase three tokens for $10.
Free youth and children’s activities will be back, along with roving entertainment and displays and activities by City of Gosnells services, while a Multi-Faith Worship space in the library will be a new addition to this year’s event.
Mayor Lynes said the City of Gosnells was one of the most diverse communities in Western Australia, with more than 43 per cent of residents born overseas.
“Residents in the City of Gosnells were born in more than 160 different countries and speak more than 155 different languages at home,” she said.
“Our community relishes this opportunity each year to come together with friends, family and neighbours to celebrate who we are and learn more about each other.”
Parking at Mills Park is limited, so visitors can take advantage of free shuttle buses departing regularly from Maddington Central shopping centre and Beckenham Train Station. Bus passengers will be eligible to enter a competition for up to $500 in gift cards or win spot prizes during the event.
Visitors are also encouraged to walk or cycle to the event to ease traffic congestion.
To keep our community green, the City will provide sustainable waste management, including recycling bins and Write Solutions bins for organic waste to be composted. Collection points for Containers for Change will also be provided.
