Fusion Festival biggest ever

The biggest ever City of Gosnells Fusion Food and Culture Festival went off with a bang on Friday 10 November and Saturday 11 November.

Mayor Terresa Lynes said more than 40,000 people attended across the two nights, which each culminated in a spectacular fireworks display.

“With crowds that exceeded our expectations, this year’s Fusion Food and Culture Festival was the biggest ever celebration of our community’s diversity,” she said.

“It is wonderful to see our community come together for such an amazing event. Thanks must go to everyone who came along, especially the community groups and volunteers who help to make this event so special each year.”

Highlights at this year’s festival included the Western Australian debut of The Guardian, a 10-metre long, four-metre high glowing crystalline lion puppet that roved through the crowds.

Music and dance from across the world kept the crowds entertained throughout the festival, including headline performances from Coterie and Adrian Dzvuke, while roving performers added to the atmosphere.

More than 40 food trucks kept the crowd fed, while other attendees enjoyed carnival rides and free children’s and youth entertainment. Community groups from the City of Gosnells shared activities and information in the expanded Global Village.
