Decorate your home or join your neighbours and decorate the whole street to be in the running for some great prizes in this year’s Safe City Christmas Lights Competition.

This annual City of Gosnells event gives community members a chance to come together, share in the festive spirit and get to know their neighbours.

Mayor Terresa Lynes encouraged residents to get involved, with entries now open.

“Whether you’re putting together a dazzling Christmas display or viewing the lights, our annual Safe City Christmas Lights Competition is a fantastic way to celebrate the festive season,” Mayor Lynes said.

“In previous years, the standard of entries has been excellent and the judges have had a tough task choosing the winners – I expect this year to be no different.”

Entries close on Sunday 5 December, with judging from Monday 6 to Wednesday 8 December. Entrants are asked to leave their lights on until 11pm on these nights.

The competition is open to City of Gosnells residents only.

Categories and prizes include:

  • Best Decorated Street – $1,000 prize and a commemorative street sign
    (minimum of five houses)
  • Best Private Residence – $500 prize
  • Best First Time Entry – $100 prize
  • Runners up – $100 prizes
  • Random draws – $50 prizes

Winners will be announced at the City’s Jingle All the Way Christmas celebration on Saturday 11 December.

Mayor Lynes encouraged residents to enjoy the festivities but to please be mindful of pedestrians, especially children, and drive carefully.
