More than 6,000 merrymakers Jingled their way through Gosnells, enjoying the festivities at the City of Gosnells Jingle All the Way Christmas event on Saturday 11 December.

With a trail of Christmas activities and performers stretching from the Gosnells Town Square, through Centennial Pioneer Park and culminating in a community concert and lights display at the Civic Centre Gardens, there was plenty to keep everyone entertained.

City of Gosnells Mayor Terresa Lynes said the event added a little sparkle to Christmas in the City.

“Jingle All the Way provided the perfect opportunity for local families, friends and neighbours to come together as a community and share in the Christmas spirit,” she said.

“The Grinch was a particular crowd pleaser, as he fished under the bridge, while Santa and his elves spread plenty of festive joy.”

During the celebrations, Mayor Lynes also announced the winners of the City’s Safe City Christmas Lights Competition.

Elizabeth Clegg, of Westfield Street in Maddington, won the $500 Best Private Residence category, ahead of runners-up John and Lisa Tenbokkel of Langford Avenue in Langford, Edmundo Espinosa of Westfield Street in Maddington, and Mardi and Anthony Fogliani of Bindoon Loop in Huntingdale.

Ms Clegg’s entry featured handmade ornaments, interactive elements and an extraordinary display of lights. It also included a Santa photo booth, a sleigh for children to sit in and a guest appearance by Santa and Mrs Claus.

Best First-Time Entry winners were Jean George and Alan Bench, of Washington Terrace in Canning Vale, and Best Decorated Street went to Consulate Court in Thornlie, who have also won this category previously.

“Congratulations to our winners and a big thanks to all our entrants in the Safe City Christmas Lights Competition,” Mayor Lynes said.

“By decorating your houses and gardens, you share the Christmas spirit with everyone in the community, and encourage more people to get out and about in their neighbourhoods to get to know their neighbours.”
