The City of Gosnells has been recognised by the Urban Development Institute of Australia (WA), for its Robinson Park development.

The subdivision and park redevelopment was listed as a finalist in the Excellence in Social and Community Infrastructure category of the UDIA Awards for Excellence.

Originally a 5.6-hectare space with plenty of large trees, no irrigation and a small ageing playground, Robinson Park didn’t meet the community’s needs.

By subdividing part of the park into residential housing, the City was able to use proceeds from the land sales to redevelop the park to a much higher standard – providing a quality green space and an attractive opportunity for new home buyers.

City of Gosnells Mayor David Goode said the 42-lot land release not only added vital funds to the project but also brought new housing to the local market and improved community safety with homes overlooking the park.

“We are very pleased that Robinson Park was recognised by the UDIA in such a way and I congratulate the City staff members who were involved in this project,” he said.
