Celebrate the 30th anniversary of the City of Gosnells Don Russell Performing Arts Centre (DRPAC) with a day of performances and interactive events on Friday 22 March.
Mayor Terresa Lynes said the 30th anniversary celebrations provided perfect opportunities for local people to experience some of the many types of performances and activities provided at DRPAC all year round.
Morning Music will feature performances by audience favourites Dean Misdale, Hannah-Jade and the Ukuroos, with an anniversary cake to be cut and shared during the program.
In the afternoon, ‘Give it a Go’ sessions for Community Choir and the popular Art with a Glass program are expected to attract plenty of interest, with no skills or experience required to enjoy these activities.
In the evening, Songs, Sorcery and Storytelling will feature a variety of performances including Underground Sounds 2023 finalist Skye Colcott, Class Act Troup, Cameron the Magician, a musical act by Jay Weston and Craig Clark and an unmissable radio show by the DRPAC team.
“Having our own performing arts centre in the heart of Thornlie means that local people have opportunities to experience more than 100 affordably-priced events and activities each year, including a broad range of quality feature performances, musicals, children’s shows and community theatre productions, close to home,” Mayor Lynes said.
“In 2022/23, DRPAC shows had over 22,600 attendances, with appearances by singer-songwriter Rick Price, iconic Aboriginal-Australian actor Ernie Dingo and the ever-popular DIVAS.
“This year’s highlights include an evening with musical theatre leading lady Marina Prior, World on a Plate, Holiday Showtime for Kids and From Page to Stage, plus many more great shows lined up, as well as regular favourites including Morning Melodies, Sunday Sounds, Sundowner Series, Cabaret Nights and Art with a Glass.”
