Community Art Exhibition and Awards

The City invites everyone to visit the Community Art Exhibition and Awards, which runs from the 22 - 28 May 2021 and features a diverse range of artworks.

The popular Exhibition and Awards attracts a large number of entries each year and offers an exciting experience of seeing work from many different Western Australian artists. From contemporary abstract art to classic landscapes, there really is something for everyone. Artists explore a range of mediums including watercolours, sculpture, pastels, pencils and pens, mixed media, photography, oil and acrylics.

Visitors to the Exhibition can purchase the artworks on display. Perfect for gifts or for adding beauty and character to your home.

Entry to the Exhibition is free and visitors are encouraged to vote for the Primewest People’s Choice Award. The Community Art Exhibition and Awards offers $10,000 in prize money shared across nine categories, which includes the Local Artist Award and the City in Focus category. This category awards an artist who has used the City of Gosnells as a theme. The artwork awarded Overall Winner of the Exhibition will be acquired by the City for its art collection.

Celebrating 60 Years

In 2021 the City will be adding a new category called 'Celebrating 60 Years'.  This is a one-off award celebrating the 60th anniversary of the City of Gosnells becoming a Local Government Authority on 1 July 1961.  An extract from 'The Gosnells Story' by G. McDonald and W.S. Cooper can be found in the below links, providing more information on the evolution of the City, from becoming a Shire in 1961, to a Town in 1973 and finally attaining City status in 1977.
