The Competition Sponsorship funding program is now open for the 2024/25 Financial year

Category 3 – Competition Sponsorships

This category provides funding assistance to support individuals who are representing either Western Australia or Australia in their chosen field of endeavour. Applicants must be either residents or ratepayers of the City of Gosnells.

What are Competition Sponsorships?

Competition Sponsorship supports individuals who have achieved State or National selection in their chosen field.

Am I eligible?

  • Participation must be in a competition recognised by a relevant State, National or International governing body, or an equivalent recognised association within their field of endeavour.
  • Have earned the opportunity to represent Western Australia in their field of endeavour. This entails achieving a competitive position through a formal selection process conducted by a recognised State, National, or International governing body or equivalent recognised association within the field.
  • Application submission must be made using the online form below.

  • Applicants must reside in or be a rate payer of the City of Gosnells.

  • Provide evidence of their selection, typically through a 'Letter of Selection' or equivalent documentation with an official signature or on letterhead from the relevant governing body or organising body.

  • Or, where no recognised selection organisation/peak/governing body exists, the applicant must demonstrate that the activity or event in which they will be competing was subject to clear selection process.

Sponsorship is not awarded to:

  • Applicants who have already received sponsorship in the financial year.

  • Applicants who apply after the date of their competition.

  • Applicants who have been selected by Local organisations such as schools and sporting clubs.

  • Applicants who have been self-selected, invited or nominated to attend.

  • Applicants who are not competing.

  • Applicants who are performing or completing a showcase (not a competitive event).

  • Applicants who are attending programs primarily focused on personal development or learning opportunities.

  • Applications submitted after the commencement of the competition.

  • Evidence of selection provided by an individual, rather than the official governing body or recognised authority.

How much can I receive?

Competition Sponsorships are awarded in the following three categories:

  • State competition/event
Successful applicants will receive $300 to represent either the state or country at a competition/event held anywhere in Western Australia.
  • National competition/event
Successful applicants will receive $400 to represent either the state or country at a competition/event held anywhere in Australia, (excluding Western Australia).
