Help ‘green’ the City of Gosnells by applying for a free tree for your verge, under the City’s Street Tree Planting Program.

Residents are encouraged to fill in an online application or call the City on 9397 3000 by Friday 13 March, as planting only occurs during the winter months.

Mayor David Goode said there are many health and environmental benefits in improving the City’s tree canopy.

“Not only do trees provide shade, they also produce oxygen, absorb heat and pollutants, store carbon, help manage groundwater quality and can increase property values,” he said.

“Walk down a leafy street on a hot day, and you will notice how much more comfortable and inviting the street is, compared to one where trees are lacking.”

The City has a variety of street trees available for most properties, however some may be restricted because of overhead services, lack of space, existing plantings or visibility issues for motorists.

The City will provide one tree for most suitable verges, or two trees for corner blocks. A City officer can inspect your verge for eligibility.
