Work has begun on a project to improve security and safety at the Gosnells PCYC building on Royal Street in Kenwick.

The $100,000 project will include a new 2.4m-high garrison fence, extensive tree lopping and upgrades to all exit doors at the facility.

City of Gosnells Mayor David Goode said construction of the fence was expected to be complete by the end of the month.

“It’s important that community members feel safe and secure while using public buildings, and the City hopes this project will alleviate any concerns the PCYC members have experienced,” he said.

“I’m pleased the City was able to work closely with the PCYC to bring this project to fruition.”

The building is owned by the City of Gosnells and leased by the PCYC.
