Are you a young musician or band in the City of Gosnells, looking to make your mark on Perth’s music scene?

WA’s longest-running music competition, Gozzy Rock, is back in 2020 with the chance for young musicians to showcase their talents and win some great prizes in a battle-of-the-bands event.

Mayor David Goode has encouraged young people to get their entries in by submitting an original or cover song demo recording or video by Friday 17 April.

“Gozzy Rock has been providing an avenue for our emerging musical talent for more than 30 years and is still going strong,” he said.

“Entries will be judged by a panel of music industry professionals who will select six finalists to perform live on Saturday 9 May at the Don Russell Performing Arts Centre, where the winners will be chosen.

“It’s a great opportunity for our young, talented musicians to get their name out there, and win a share of more than $2,500 in music store vouchers.”

Prizes include vouchers to the value of $1,500 for first, $750 for second and $500 for third place.

Gozzy Rock entries close Friday 17 April and entrants must be aged 12 to 25 years, with at least one band member living, working or studying in the City of Gosnells.

Video entries can be submitted via SoundCloud, YouTube, Vimeo or Facebook and anyone who enters via Facebook must tag the Gozzy Rock Facebook page.

Community members can attend the final, with tickets to be released closer to the event.
