Entries are now open for the City of Gosnells annual Art Exhibition and Awards, and community members are encouraged to submit their creations.

The Awards are open to all emerging and professional artists with more than $9,000 in prize money up for grabs.

Mayor David Goode said the Community Art Exhibition and Awards is a fabulous way to showcase the creative talents of residents within the City and further afield.

“Art provides a platform for the creative expression of ideas and this exhibition will allow visitors to experience talents of our local and WA artists,” he said.

“Last year’s exhibition featured over 230 art pieces in a range of mediums, with Chris Goldberg taking out the top art prize for the second consecutive year with her realistic piece titled ‘If Only’.”

Award categories include acrylic; local artist award (for City of Gosnells residents and ratepayers); mixed media and three dimensional sculpture; oil; pastel, pencil, pen and watercolour; photography and digital media; Primewest People’s Choice Award; the City in Focus award; and the Youth Award.

Entries are open until Tuesday 14 April and the community can view all artworks during an exhibition from Saturday 16 May to Friday 22 May at The Agonis in Gosnells.
