For Art's Sake Youthfest is an art exhibition and event showcasing the artistic talent of young people in the City of Gosnells. 

It is an opportunity for the community to witness the talent of emerging young artists.

For Art's Sake Youthfest event is a celebratory time to acknowledge those who have submitted artwork for exhibiting and prize winners are announced. Free art workshops, music, giant inflatable, Dodgeball and barbecue are some of the highlights. Open to young people aged 10 to 18 years, and award announcement at 6pm, open to the public. 


Participation

Eligibility

Any young person aged 10 to 18 years and is either living or attending school within the City of Gosnells can submit an art piece adhering to the event guidelines. 

Categories and Prizes

Submissions are categorised into two categories: 

  1. Year 7 - 9 
  2. Year 10 - 12

Prizes for each category is as follows:

1st Prize Young People's Choice Award $200 Jackson's Art Supplies Voucher
2nd Prize Young Change Makers Award $100 Jackson's Art Supplies Voucher
3rd Prize Youth Services Award $50 Jackson's Art Supplies Voucher

Submissions

Guidelines to Enter

  • The theme is 'For Art's Sake'. 
  • A maximum of one artwork submission per person.
    Schools: a maximum submission of three pieces of artwork for each category
    (1 submission per student, 6 submissions per school in total).
  • Participants can use any medium.
  • Artwork should be no larger than A3 (420mm x 297mm) with hanging options on the back.
  • Artwork can be provided on canvas or as a framed piece. 
  • Entries close at 4pm on Tuesday, 12 November 2024. 

Submission Instructions

Step 1

Submit a digital copy of the artwork to youth@gosnells.wa.gov.au
Email a photograph of the artwork with the following information in the email:

- Artist's Name 
- Name of School
- Title of Work

Step 2

Provide physical artwork.

Artists and/or schools will be contacted in November to organise a collection date for artwork.
Artwork will be displayed at the City of Gosnells Civic Centre from the 18th to 22nd November.  
Winners will be notified to attend the For Art's Sake Youthfest event at the Castle youth centre to receive an award. 

Step 3

Collection/return physical artwork.

Artists and/or schools will be contacted on 4 December to make arrangements to collect submitted artwork.

Artwork viewing and voting

The community is welcome to view the local talent of young artists participating in this year's exhibition at the City of Gosnells' Civic Centre. All artwork will be displayed in the customer service foyer from the 18th to the 22nd of November, 2024

For Art's Sake awards and exhibition evening

For Art's Sake Youthfest event will be held on Friday the 29th of November, 2024 from 3pm to 7pm at the Castle youth centre. This is a free event for young people aged 10-18 years, and the award announcement segment of the day is open to the general public at 6pm.

The Civic Centre is the administration centre for the City, and is located in beautiful parklands on Albany Highway, Gosnells.
The Castle is a fun and vibrant space for young people aged 10 to 18 years, and is the home to the Young Change Makers, Art Studio and Social Sisters programs.
