Founder of popular online resource Hey Sigmund, and author of books Hey Warrior and Hey Awesome, Karen Young will present a free parenting seminar on Wednesday 4 May, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

Building courage and resilience in children, adapting to adversity and challenges, and boosting children’s confidence will be the focus of the third GosTalks Parenting Seminar, to be held at the Don Russell Performing Arts Centre.

GosTalks is the result of a collaboration between the City of Gosnells, Centrecare, Communicare and Parkerville Children and Youth Care Inc, and is aimed at supporting parents by increasing their knowledge, offering strategies and connecting them with local support services.

City of Gosnells Mayor Terresa Lynes said topics for the GosTalks Parenting Seminars were selected based on current community needs.

“Our program partners have reported an increased number of families requesting support and information about childhood anxiety and strategies to assist their children,” she said.

“This topic is great for parents with children, especially those under 12, and focuses on giving parents and children the confidence to manage anxiety and build resilience.

“GosTalks is providing a valuable bridge, connecting local services with families in our community, which will have a lasting impact for future generations.”

Ms Young is a psychologist who works with children, teens and families, and is a sought-after speaker and consultant for schools, businesses and other organisations, across Australia and overseas.
