Why do you volunteer and what do you personally gain from volunteering?
I have been a receptionist all of my working life. I love people and learning how to communicate with people.
What encouraged you to become a volunteer?
I knew I would volunteer somewhere when I retired at 68. I visited Addie Mills Centre as a retired senior and asked if there were any vacancies for an experienced receptionist and got the position.
Tell us about an average day in your role?
It can be busy but it makes me happy and I meet interesting people. I'm at the front desk and am usually the first point of contact.
What is your greatest achievement as a volunteer?
Feeling part of a great working team.
What advice would you give to anyone who is interested in volunteering?
Investigate possibilities in your area. Jump in and enjoy!
