Profile - Caren Baayens

Caren was elected as a Councillor in October 2021.

Caren grew up in Beckenham and now owns her own family home in the suburb. She has three young boys and loves to explore the outdoors with her family. Caren has a strong interest in community events and recreation, ensuring families have a safe space to enjoy and connect with their neighbourhood.

Caren is passionate about preserving our natural environment, increasing tree numbers and canopy, and preserving our natural bushland in areas such as Ellis Brook and Brixton Street Wetlands.

Caren has a Bachelor of Pharmacy and her experience in community pharmacy and hospitals has established a basis for caring for the community.

Caren aims to bring fresh ideas to Council with a focus on both environmental and financial sustainability.
