Corriedale Place Reserve

Formerly a piped stormwater outfall that transported its load for the last two hundred metres to Djarlgarra (the Canning River) through an open drain, Corriedale Springs has been tranfsformed by the City and Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group into a "living stream" that helps to improve the quality of water before it discharges to the river.

Funding for the project has been provided largely by the Swan River Trust through the Riverbank funding program. Works have been coordinated by the City and the Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group, with the hard work of many community volunteers.

Since the project's start in 2003, more than 30,000 trees, shrubs and sedges have been installed.

The site, which was previously degraded, highly weed-infested and of little biodiversity or water quality value, has been restored and rehabilitated to an environmental asset that contributes to the protection of Djarlgarra.

The Swan River Trust has granted funding through its Riverbank funding program to continue works in 2012.

The City and the Armadale Gosnells Landcare group commenced revegetation of the degraded river foreshore and floodplain of Djarlgarra (the Canning River) in a joint project with the Western Australian Planning Commission near Astley Street, Gosnells, in 2001.
