Serena is a dedicated Councillor with a passion for making the City of Gosnells an exceptional place to live and raise a family. Her commitment to sustainable practices, economic well-being, and environmental preservation reflects her determination to ensure a prosperous and harmonious community for all residents and future generations.

Serena envisions a City of Gosnells that is cleaner, greener, and safer, where the quality of life is elevated through several key initiatives. Her vision encompasses an abundance of trees, robust waste reduction options, improved road infrastructure, secure neighbourhoods and a connected community. These elements are fundamental to fostering a sense of well-being and unity among the community.

As a lifelong resident of the City of Gosnells, Serena has strong connections with the community and an in-depth understanding of the region and resident’s needs. Serena, is raising her young family in Southern River and appreciates the significance of public open spaces, playgrounds, youth facilities, libraries, senior services, and sporting facilities. She recognises these amenities as vital to accommodating the City's growing population and enhancing the overall quality of life for its residents. Serena is a vocal advocate for the redevelopment of Sutherlands sporting grounds, the YES Youth Plaza and SPLASH.

Serena's professional background in accounting, technology, and management equips her with the skills and expertise necessary for responsible decision-making in a leadership role. She is dedicated to prioritising financial prudence while ensuring the delivery of essential projects and services that cater to the diverse needs of the community. Her overarching goal is to create a City of Gosnells that is not only fiscally sound but also vibrant and well-equipped to meet the evolving needs of its residents.

Serena’s unwavering commitment for a cleaner, greener, and safer city, combined with her professional expertise and dedication to responsible governance, positions her as a valuable asset in the pursuit of a thriving and harmonious community. Serena's leadership is rooted in her passion for the City's well-being and a sustainable future for all its residents.

Committees:

  • Joint Development Assessment Panel – Planning decisions for applications over $2 million.
  • Chairperson of Metropolitan Regional Road Group – MRRG administers State and Federal allocated funding for road projects and Black Spot funding for the Perth Metro area.
  • Chairperson of South East Metropolitan Regional Road Sub Group – SEMRRSG is responsible for reviewing and monitoring current funded road projects and expenditure for South East region.
  • Member of South East Regional Energy Group- The objective of SEREG is to support corporate and community greenhouse gas emission reductions. This group is responsible for Switch Your Thinking, a sustainability focused education network.
  • Metropolitan Vice President of Australian Local Government Women's Association WA - provides support and services to elected members and local government employees.

Former Committees:

  • Audit Committee - responsible for the review of the City of Gosnells financial and risk reports.
  • WALGA South East Metropolitan Zone - considers local government strategy, policy and advocacy matters for the South East region.

Cr Aaron Adams

Aaron has been a Councillor since 2019 and has dedicated his time to helping residents. He was the owner/operator of a small business in the City of Gosnells for 21 years and has lived in Thornlie with his family for the past 25 years.

Dillon lives in the City of Gosnells with his wife. He has spent over a decade working in the education sector in a variety of roles, primarily as a primary school teacher

Cr Glenn Dewhurst

Glenn has been a Councillor for the past 12 years, spending 2 years as Mayor in 2017 and 2018. Even though the Mayoral role was turbulent, it was necessary to shake up the Council, of which he was able to do.

Cr Malik Sajjad

A Huntingdale resident, lived in Australia for more than 20 years including the past decade in the City of Gosnells. Malik is an active social sports participant and a proud committee member at the Thornlie Tennis Club.

Cr Diane Lloyd

Diane has lived with her husband Jon and their two boys Sam and Will in Gosnells for over a decade. She has a close connection with the Gosnells community having run a self-funded Eco Community Hub, Jacaranda House and being the Co-founder of the local not-for-profit Sam’s Spares with her 19-year-old son Sam.
