Serena, is raising her young family in Southern River and appreciates the significance of public open spaces, playgrounds, youth facilities, libraries, senior services, and sporting facilities. She recognises these amenities as vital to accommodating the City's growing population and enhancing the overall quality of life for its residents. Serena is a vocal advocate for the redevelopment of Sutherlands sporting grounds, the YES Youth Plaza and SPLASH.

- Chairperson of Metropolitan Regional Road Group – MRRG administers State and Federal allocated funding for road projects and Black Spot funding for the Perth Metro area.
- Chairperson of South East Metropolitan Regional Road Sub Group – SEMRRSG is responsible for reviewing and monitoring current funded road projects and expenditure for South East region.
- Member of South East Regional Energy Group- The objective of SEREG is to support corporate and community greenhouse gas emission reductions. This group is responsible for Switch Your Thinking, a sustainability focused education network.
- Metropolitan Vice President of Australian Local Government Women's Association WA - provides support and services to elected members and local government employees.
