Conditions of use

Customer Restrictions

Customers must be 18 years of age or older to submit printing jobs to the 3D Printing Service. Adult customers may submit print jobs on behalf of their children.

Underage customers are not permitted to use the 3D Printing service, unless doing so as part of a Library Services program/event presented for a younger age group.

Customers must have a full City of Gosnells Adult Library membership, with a valid library card, to utilise the 3D Printing service.

Design and Printing Limitations

Library Services only provides a 3D Printing service – we do not provide a design service. You can download pre-designed 3D models from websites like Thingiverse.com, or you can create your own designs on free, open-source programs like TinkerCAD, Sketchup, Blender, or OpenSCAD.

Customers must not submit designs that are inappropriate. Library staff reserve the right to determine what is inappropriate, and to reject print jobs. Designs must comply with all relevant copyright and censorship laws and licensing agreements.

Designs are limited to the 3D Printer’s build area (280mm wide, 250mm deep, and 300mm high), and to Amherst Village Library’s operating hours (no more than 7-hour long prints). Designs that are too big for the 3D Printer or will take too long will be rejected.

Our 3D Printer uses white/neutral PLA 3D Printing filament, so that customers may paint their completed designs as they see fit.

Cost

Completed application forms and submitted designs will be forwarded to Library staff, who will generate a quote for the print. Charges for use of the 3D Printing service are based on total print time.

The first hour of a print costs $10, with each additional hour (or part thereof) costing $5. Once the customer has signed a copy of the costing estimate and paid the quoted amount, Library staff will commence printing the design.

Access

Our 3D Printing service operates on a “First come, first served” basis. As such, wait times for completion of prints will vary depending on the size of our waitlist. Library staff will respond to Job Submissions throughout the week, and conduct printing on Wednesdays.

Customers will be contacted when the print is completed and ready for pick-up from Amherst Village Library’s front desk.

Infringements

A warning will be given if inappropriate designs are submitted for printing. If more than two warnings are given, this may result in termination of Library membership.

The City reserves the right to change the policies relating to the use of the 3D Printer at any time without notice.
