The $2.83 million renovation of Gosnells Bowling Club is complete.

A new function room, kitchen, toilet facilities and boundary fence along Albany Highway and Dorothy Street have been built to accommodate the club’s growing membership.

Mayor Terresa Lynes said the City of Gosnells contributed $1.53 million to the project, which would now be a community focal point in the heart of Gosnells.

“This much-wanted extension for the Gosnells Bowling Club will provide an opportunity for many people in our community to come together, meet friends, keep active and get the most out of life in the City of Gosnells,” Mayor Lynes said.

Mayor Lynes said the City had conducted extensive studies into the best way to meet the club’s and community’s needs and the extension had expanded the capacity of the clubhouse to cater for the future.

The project was jointly funded by the City of Gosnells, the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and the Gosnells Bowling Club. New furniture for the extension was funded by the State Government.

The Australian Government contributed $1.1 million to the project.

Federal member for Burt Matt Keogh said he was proud to support the City and the Gosnells Bowling Club on a project that will help the community gather and connect.

“Sport brings our community together, and the Albanese Government’s more than $1million contribution allows the Club to meet increasing demand for events and social spaces, right in the town centre.”

Gosnells Bowling Club President Hazel McGinty said the clubhouse was now a safe and inclusive space for members and the local community to enjoy.

“The new venue can be used by members and be hired to the local community for private events, community groups or social gatherings, and is a great way to bring new members and families with young children to the club,” she said.
