The City is responsible for street addresses and road names. These are implemented under Australian Standard 4819:2011 (Rural and Urban Addressing).

If subdivision occurs, or the City is made aware of naming or numbering inconsistencies, we will review the site and may issue an address clarification to the current owner(s).

When a street address is amended, the City notifies:

• Landgate
• Australia Post
• AEC
• Water Corporation
• Telstra
• Alinta Energy
• ATCO Gas

New road names can be proposed by any party. An application will require the support of the City before it is submitted to Landgate for approval. Landgate then assesses the application on behalf of the Minister for Lands.

Traffic volume studies are used to determine the number, speed, direction and the types of vehicles using a particular roadway at a specific location.

Traffic count information is available from the City, following the completion of our traffic count application. A fee is payable for this service.

Before completing the application, we recommend visiting the free mapping system provided by Main Roads WA. The mapping system can be used to find traffic volumes on roads throughout WA.

Information provided by our traffic count application, includes:

• 24 hour average weekday traffic volumes for all vehicles
• Class of vehicle
• 85th percentile speed
  (Speed at which 85% of the traffic travel at, or less than, the posted speed)

The fee for the City to conduct a new traffic count will be a charge that reflects the actual cost to provide the service.
