Trees vandalised at Gaskin Park, Kenwick

Seven young trees have been destroyed in an act of vandalism at Gaskin Park in Kenwick.

City of Gosnells Mayor Terresa Lynes said the trees had been planted to help green the local area and provide long-term benefits for the community.

“It is extremely disappointing to see young trees destroyed in this way,” Mayor Lynes said.

“These trees were planted for everyone to enjoy and increase shade over the footpaths.

“As they grow, they provide shade, habitat for wildlife and natural beauty for park users and nearby residents.

“Our parks and green spaces are shared community assets, and we all have a role to play in looking after them.”

Mayor Lynes urged residents to report vandalism or damage to City property whenever they see it.

“By treating our parks with care and reporting damage when it occurs, we can help protect these important places for future generations,” she said.

City staff discovered the destroyed trees on Thursday morning, 27 August.
