Goal scored with Langford Indoor Sports Centre

The Langford Indoor Sports Centre (LISC) is nearly complete, with the Southern Districts Netball Association set to trial the new courts with grand final games this weekend.
The new $14.8 million centre features a show court for netball with a 200-seat grandstand, plus three multisport indoor courts for netball, basketball, badminton and volleyball.
The fully accessible facility includes unisex change rooms, umpires’ room, kiosk, first aid room, administration offices, match office, storage and a community hall.
Final touches to the state-of-the-art facility are underway, while the City confirms the bookings for regular hirers over the coming weeks.
Mayor Terresa Lynes said LISC was the City’s first multicourt indoor facility.
“The new grandstand at the Langford Indoor Sports Centre will be perfect for crowds to cheer on the Southern Districts Netball Association during their finals campaign, and the City is looking forward to opening the centre to its future regular users,” she said.
“LISC will help facilitate player development in the City of Gosnells, providing clear pathways from beginner netballers to state-level players, while allowing local residents to enjoy the sports they love all year round, protected from the weather.”
The City contributed $8.3 million to the project, with the Australian Government contributing $5 million under the Priority Community Infrastructure Program and the State Government contributing $1.5 million through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries’ Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund program.
Member for Swan Zaneta Mascarenhas said kids in the City of Gosnells deserve access to high-quality sports facilities.
“You shouldn't have to cross Perth just to find a decent court to play on. This facility puts great sports infrastructure right in the heart of Langford,” she said.
“This centre will be where kids learn to play as part of a team and where our future elite athletes will get their start.” she said.
Member for Burt Matt Keogh said he was proud to have delivered this funding from the Albanese Labor Government for this important project for Perth’s south-east.
“Our community deserves to have top-notch sporting facilities close to home,” Mr Keogh said
“Team sports are a binding force for people’s connection to their local community and they get kids off devices and onto the courts, which helps social cohesion as well as fitness.
“This is a game changer for netball and other indoor court sports, and it means our local athletes in Perth’s south-east aren’t missing out.”
Member for Cannington Ron Sao welcomed the completion of LISC.
“This facility is a wonderful investment in the future of our community that will benefit many generations for years to come,” he said.
Southern Districts Netball Association Administrator Nicky Prothero said LISC would allow the Association to expand its competitions, programs and pathways, as well as provide a new home for the Southside Demons Netball Club, competing in the WA Netball League.
“We hope these new facilities will help inspire and develop the next generation of talent, with the goal of seeing many more SDNA athletes reach the highest levels of the sport in years to come,” she said.
“These new facilities represent an exciting future for SDNA – creating a place where our community can come together, participate, connect and enjoy netball for many years to come.”
The centre will be available for general community bookings from 2027.
