Rubbish on a property

The City of Gosnells encourages residents and visitors to help keep our community clean and safe by reporting rubbish on private or vacant properties.

Leaving rubbish on a property, including the accumulation of waste materials, can attract pests, create health risks, and negatively impact neighbouring properties. In some circumstances, rubbish on a property may also involve littering or illegal dumping, which are offences under the Litter Act 1979.

City Rangers may investigate reports of rubbish on a property and take appropriate action. Where evidence of an offender is provided, Rangers may be able to pursue enforcement action, including issuing fines.

If a report leads to legal action, you may be required to:

  • Provide a written statement to the City
  • Appear in court to give evidence if required
