Book a Meeting with a Planner Service

The City provides general planning advice to the residents and development industry professionals via the City’s General Planning Advice Service.

This complimentary service provides the ability to discuss your general planning queries with a Planning Officer via a 30-minute appointment.

Appointments can be booked as follows:

All appointments are required to be booked 24 hours in advance using the City’s online booking system. 

Please note: only one appointment can be booked each day. Multiple or back to back bookings made by the same individual or relating to the same property by other family members will not be allowed.

Customers are able to book a further appointment at a later date if they have further queries following receipt of written advice from the City relating to their initial General Planning Advice query.

What planning advice can I receive?

The City provides general advice on planning queries covering a range of matters relating to the development and/or subdivision of property, such as lodgement of a Deemed-to-Comply Check, Development Application or Subdivision Application.

The scope of planning advice is generally limited to:

  • Zoning, land use, development requirements for a site and any possible development approval exemptions.
  • Applicable planning framework including any structure plan, local development plan, state and/or local planning policies etc.
  • Procedural enquiries such as development approval processes including any consultation requirements, Development Assessment Panel and Design Review Panel processes.
  • Advice on what kind of development application may be required.
  • Planning fees, payment methods, and refund of fees process.
  • Online application lodgements.
  • Archival plan search processes.

All advice provided by the City through this service is general in nature, is provided in good faith and is not intended to form a detailed assessment or determination of matters discussed.

The City does not accept responsibility for any monetary or otherwise loss through the use of the advice provided by the City in that manner.
