The Trail to Oregon! is an original musical produced by Starkid Productions, based on the cult classic video game The Oregon Trail, and was performed in Chicago in the summer of 2014. It is also the most historically accurate musical portraying the Oregon Trail to date; featuring 12 educational songs, a set precisely replicating the trail’s landscape, and appearances from famous historical figures, such as: Henry McDoon, Cletus Jones, and Cornwallis.
Actually… It tells the story of a dysfunctional family of settlers and the hardships they encounter as they attempt to travel down the Oregon trail. Audience participation is a major component of this show, allowing the audience to name all the main characters, and even choose the family member to die at the end of the show.
