A raw and emotive self-depiction has earned young artist Casper Green the most votes in the 2025 City of Gosnells Community Art Exhibition and Awards, securing her the Maddington Central People’s Choice Award.
Sponsored by Maddington Central, the award includes a $500 prize for Ms Green, a second-year art student at Edith Cowan University, in recognition of her captivating and deeply personal oil painting.
City of Gosnells Mayor Terresa Lynes congratulated Ms Green on her achievement, praising her depth and emotional honesty.

“Ms Green’s oil painting captures her vulnerabilities in a powerful way, which is no doubt why her piece had such an impact on people,” Mayor Lynes said.
“She is a deserving winner of the 2025 Maddington Central People’s Choice Award, and I wish her every success in what promises to be a bright future as an artist.”
Having first picked up a paint brush at just four years old, Ms Green has gone on to exhibit several works over the years, showcasing her evolving talent and creative voice.
Her award-winning piece, titled ‘Leeches’, was inspired by a song of the same name.
“The song talks about being a people pleaser, and how others take advantage of one's kindness and empathy,” Ms Green said.
“I tried to capture this feeling with the abstraction of the body, stretching out to please others only to fade away into darkness as they come back for more.”
