Dog owners and their four-legged friends will soon have exciting new ‘digs’ to explore with the forthcoming completion of a new enclosed dog park in Canning Vale.

Work has started on Bracadale Dog Park, which is being developed following requests to the City from the local community.

The fenced park will be divided into two areas, one for more introverted or timid dogs and another for more extroverted or boisterous dogs, and will feature a grassed area, natural shade, covered seating, waste bins and drink fountains with dog bowls. It will also have interactive elements including crawl tunnels, large tyres, an agility ramp and sandpit.

City of Gosnells Mayor Terresa Lynes, who visited the site with Deputy Mayor Adam Hort, said the new park was scheduled for completion in October 2023 and will be the second enclosed dog park in the City.

“Many local residents and their furry friends already love to visit the Harmony Fields Dog Park in Maddington and we expect the new Bracadale Dog Park to be just as popular,” she said.

“The new dog park will have fun interactive elements and plenty of open grassed space for zoomies and games of catch, with plenty of natural shade, covered seating and water bowls to make it a pleasant place for dogs and their owners.”

In March, the City opened a new all-abilities playground at Bracadale Park, inspired by the nearby wetlands. The playground remains open while work on the dog park is under way and residents are advised to watch out for vehicles entering and leaving the site.

“It’s always great to receive feedback from residents about what they want the City to provide in their neighbourhood, and I’m delighted we are able to deliver this new park in response to that feedback,” Mayor Lynes said.
