Personal safety, home and vehicle security, cyber safety and the importance of knowing your neighbours are the focus for a series of Community Safety Month events in October.

Through the Safe City Initiative, the City of Gosnells and partner organisations are raising awareness about crime prevention and encouraging members of the community to adopt positive safety practices through a range of activities, workshops and events.

Mayor Terresa Lynes said Community Safety Month was the perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbours and learn how to stay safe.

“There are great crime prevention activities and events on offer for our entire community this October,” she said.

“Bring your child to Safety Day at Park Play with a free Constable Care puppet show where they can learn what to do in emergency situations, or register for a cyber-safety webinar and build confidence online.

“No matter what you choose to do, getting involved and building connections with your community is the best way to stay safe,” she said.

Community Safety Month will conclude with a Your Neighbourhood event at Holling Park, Maddington, on Thursday 27 October, where local residents can get to know each other with a fun afternoon of family-friendly activities and a free sausage sizzle.

All members of the community who register and attend any of the Community Safety Month events will go in the running to win a home security package valued at $500.
