Public toilets are now available to community members using the recently opened Homestead Park playground, while the adjacent Thornlie Community Centre has been renamed Homestead Park Centre.

The toilets, located in the Homestead Park Centre, will be open between 7.30am and sunset each day.

City of Gosnells Deputy Mayor Adam Hort said the recent upgrade to the Homestead Park playground had proven very popular, resulting in increased demand for toilet facilities.

“It’s important that children and their families are able to be comfortable while they enjoy the new playground at Homestead Park,” he said.

“Young children often need to access a toilet in a hurry – especially when they are distracted by having fun at a playground – so the City has made changes to the Homestead Park Centre so that community members can easily access these important facilities.”

Cr Hort said renaming the community centre as the Homestead Park Centre would better reflect the site’s history and avoid confusion with the nearby Thornlie Park Centre on Thornlie Avenue.

“Recent renovations to the Homestead Park Centre have made this valuable community asset more comfortable and user-friendly and we hope this, along with its new name and adjacent playground, will encourage residents to access and enjoy the facility,” he said.
