Key environmental issues impacting the south-eastern suburbs were brought to the table during a meeting between WA Minister for Environment Reece Whitby and three of the four Mayors from the South East Corridor Councils Alliance (SECCA) - City of Gosnells Mayor Terresa Lynes, City of Canning Mayor Patrick Hall and Town of Victoria Park Mayor Karen Vernon.

Alliance Mayors discussed the need to increase urban canopy and tackle the spread of the Polyphagus Shot Hole Borer (PSHB) in the Corridor. The Minister was also advised of SECCA’s soon-to-commence pilot initiative to assess the feasibility of a Virtual Power Plant for large commercial and industrial users.

Mayor Lynes said the meeting provided a good opportunity to discuss these important environmental issues.
