Refurbishment works to the Gosnells Oval grandstand and playing surface are on track to be completed before the winter football season, with City of Gosnells Mayor Terresa Lynes lending a hand to roll out the turf this week.
Mayor Lynes said finishing touches were being made to the heritage-listed RS Sampson Grandstand, while drainage and irrigation have been installed on the oval.
“The drainage work will ensure there are no more puddles on the field during winter, while new Waterwise irrigation will be much more efficient and keep the new turf in good condition to cope with the rigour of football games,” she said.
Gosnells Football Club President Brayden Watkins said the ground and grandstand were looking good and the City was doing an excellent job with the refurbishment work.
“Club members are really looking forward to kicking off the footy season on a new surface and it will make such a difference not to have to play through puddles,” he said.
