Li-ion Energy is the latest recipient of a Switched On Business Award from Switch Your Thinking, acknowledging the sustainability credentials of the Gosnells business.

City of Gosnells Mayor Terresa Lynes said Li-ion Energy was recognised for the way it recycles and refurbishes lithium-ion battery packs for reuse, as well as for reusing and recycling battery components and other materials that come through their door.

“Li-ion Energy are proving that it is possible to introduce sustainable initiatives in the way they do business – in fact, it forms the very heart of their business model,” she said.

“Adopting a recycle-first approach reduces waste and helps to create a cleaner and more sustainable future for our community.”

South East Regional Energy Group (SEREG) Chairperson and City of Armadale Mayor Ruth Butterfield congratulated Li-ion Energy on their Award and said it’s important to recognise businesses who have embedded sustainability into their practices.

“Switched On Business award recipients are leading the way amongst local businesses, and providing a lasting legacy for the wider community.

“Introducing sustainable initiatives into business operations is usually financially beneficial, in addition to conserving resources for the future and preventing pollution.”

“If you run a business, I want to encourage you to take a careful look at how you can introduce sustainable initiatives in your operations – you might find these steps are financially beneficial as well as helping the environment.”

Li-ion Energy owner Justin Manton was delighted with the award.

“At Li-ion Energy, we recycle 95 per cent of all materials containing lithium batteries through a variety of avenues,” he said.

“We are also designing and developing a proposed community power wall and constructing a 50kWh battery for the business premises, plus we provide a free battery recycling drop off point for the community.

“We have big plans for the future in this space.”
