Time is running out to enter your artworks in this year’s City of Gosnells Community Art Exhibition and Awards, with entries closing on Wednesday 27 April.

Artists from local suburbs and those from further afield who enter the competition will have a chance to share in a total prize pool of $9,500.

City of Gosnells Mayor Terresa Lynes said all entries would feature in an exhibition to be held from Saturday 21 to Sunday 29 May.

“Seeing all the artworks displayed together at the Community Art Exhibition and Awards is a wonderful reflection of our community, and really shows the depth of talent of our local artists, both budding and professional,” she said.

"This is a great experience and opportunity for local artists to share their work with the community, to potentially sell their artwork, and of course to have the chance to be recognised by winning one of the prizes."

The artist who wins the acquisitive Overall Prize will win $5,000. There are $500 prizes offered for the remaining nine categories, which include the Primewest People’s Choice Award. This award is chosen by visitors to the exhibition voting for their favourite piece.

All other prize categories will be judged by the City’s Public Art Committee with guidance from a professional art valuer, and include:

  • Acrylic
  • Pastel, Pencil, Pen and Watercolour
  • Oil
  • Photography and Digital Media
  • Mixed Media and Three-Dimensional Sculpture
  • Youth Award (12 – 17 years)
  • The City in Focus Award
  • Local Artist Award (City of Gosnells residents only)

The awards presentation and exhibition will be held in the Lyal Richardson Hall at The Agonis, 2232 Albany Highway in Gosnells. Most artworks will be available for purchase however exhibition entry is free.
