Red Stitch’s powerful political drama Monument is coming to the Don Russell Performing Arts Centre (DRPAC) as part of a national tour.

Directed by Red Stitch Artistic Director, Ella Caldwell, and featuring original cast members Julia Hanna and Sarah Sutherland, the play follows Edith Aldridge, the youngest woman ever elected leader of her country.

The production challenges the trivialisation of beauty therapy, exploring the role that make-up and fashion play in how we perceive and receive women in power.

Witty, layered, and unflinchingly current, the razor-sharp delivery struck a chord with Melbourne audiences and critics alike.

Monument is a Red Stitch production developed through the INK Program with the support of Creative Australia, Malcolm Robertson Foundation and PlayKing Foundation.

The production is supported by Arts on Tour, which brings culturally distinctive experiences to audiences and communities across the country.

Monument plays at DRPAC on Saturday 27 September at 7.30pm and is suitable for ages over 14.

Tickets $34 standard and $29 concession. Click here for more information.
