Dispose of hazardous waste and unwanted items in a safe, sustainable way at the City of Gosnells Community Waste Drop-Off Day on Saturday 5 April.

Open to residents in the City of Gosnells, the drive-thru drop-off day will accept household hazardous waste and other items that cannot be disposed of in the regular household rubbish collection.

“There are many household products that are hazardous and, if disposed of incorrectly, can be harmful to the environment,” Mayor Terresa Lynes said.

“These products cannot be disposed of in your regular rubbish collection because they can leak into the environment and waterways, which can pose a serious health risk to people and local wildlife.

“By providing residents with a safe, environmentally-conscious way to dispose of hazardous household waste, we can help create a greener, cleaner environment for all.”

Items accepted at the drop-off include:

  • Household hazardous waste such as aerosols, paints and solvents, gas bottles,  x-rays and household chemicals.

  • Clothing and accessories, which will be accepted on site by WA charities.

  • E-waste such as computers, laptops, electronic cables and mobile phones.

  • Other items such as tyres (limits of four per household) cardboard and bulk polystyrene.

Items that will not be accepted include whitegoods, mattresses, furniture and electrical items not on the e-waste list.

Waste can be dropped off at the City’s Operations Centre, 2 Canning Park Avenue, Maddington, between 8am and 3pm on the day.

Residents must bring proof of their address, such as a current driver’s licence, rates notice or utility bill with name and address details.

Residents are also encouraged to sort items before arriving at the Operations Centre, for maximum efficiency.
