The centre of Maddington is set to become a dynamic urban environment with a focus on sustainable development and growth, as part of the City of Gosnells vision for the town centre.

Mayor Terresa Lynes said the Maddington Town Centre Concept Plan launched this week included a variety of land uses around the Maddington train station.

“The existing transport links in Maddington provide an excellent opportunity to develop pedestrian-friendly, affordable living opportunities for the community,” she said.

“It is our vision that Maddington will provide a high quality lifestyle and be a place where people choose to live. The Maddington Town Centre Concept Plan would result in more than 3,500 dwelling units, including apartments, townhouses and ground floor units, providing homes for around 7,350 people.

“Maddington Town Centre also has considerable scope for further retail and commercial development and promises to become a vibrant and diverse hub for shopping and employment.”

The release of the Concept Plan is an important step in redeveloping the area and provides an important framework for the City to facilitate staged and coordinated development in the area.

Mayor Lynes said the City’s long-term commitment to redevelop the Maddington Town Centre had already involved considerable background planning aimed at maximising the area’s potential, including through the Maddington Kenwick Sustainable Communities Partnership with the State Government.

“The City looks forward to continuing to collaborate with both public and private investors as part of realising this vision for Maddington,” she said.

“We believe this vision for Maddington is shared with our residents, business community and government.”
