Local volunteers will be treated to a meal, entertainment, wellness activities and a viewing of the City of Gosnells Community Art Exhibition, as part of a sundowner to celebrate National Volunteer Week.

The Volunteer Sundowner is on from 3pm to 5pm on Saturday 20 May. Anyone who volunteers for non-profit organisations, community groups, sporting clubs or schools within the City of Gosnells can register for the free event before 15 May, and bring along up to four immediate family members.

Mayor Terresa Lynes encouraged residents to consider volunteering if they were not doing so already.

“Volunteers make many positive contributions to our community, making life better for many of our residents,” she said.

“Volunteers make it possible for community members to connect with each other, to keep fit through sports, to learn new skills at workshops, be entertained, access information, support individuals through tough times and much more.

“They are the glue that sticks our community together, and we are looking forward to celebrating their efforts with this special event.”

National Volunteer Week runs from Monday 15 May to Sunday 21 May. This year’s theme is The Change Makers, recognising the positive changes volunteers contribute to their communities.
