City of Gosnells residents are encouraged to get to know their neighbours by hosting a Street Meet and Greet for Neighbour Day on the last weekend in March.
The City is offering up to $200 to help reimburse eligible event costs.
Mayor Terresa Lynes said Neighbour Day, held across Australia on Sunday 29 March, is an annual event that promotes community connection.
“When we know our neighbours and build strong community connections, we are more likely to feel a sense of belonging and improved wellbeing,” she said.
“Connected communities are resilient communities. That’s why the City of Gosnells provides up to $200 to reimburse expenses involved in hosting a Street Meet and Greet – but make sure you submit your application early.
“Your event could be a barbecue, picnic, a morning tea or games afternoon – whatever brings your neighbours together to connect and get to know each other.”
Residents planning a Street Meet and Greet should allow enough time for City staff to review and process applications before the event date. Conditions apply.
Street Meet and Greet events can happen any time of year, but Neighbour Day is a popular time to host one. Resources for Neighbour Day are also available through the Relationships Australia website.
