More than half the lots in the Southern River Business Park are now under contract and the strong demand has prompted the City of Gosnells to complete all four stages of the subdivision simultaneously.

The 21 ha subdivision features mixed business and light industrial lots ranging from 1,211 square metres to 6,456 square metres and is the largest commercial project the City has undertaken.

City of Gosnells Mayor Terresa Lynes said the City initially planned to develop the business park in four stages, each dependent on the success of earlier stages.

“Since its release in November, the first stage of the Southern River Business Park has already sold out and demand for land in the subdivision remains strong,” she said.

“The City has opted to complete construction of all four stages simultaneously, which will further benefit the rapidly growing Southern River community.

“Southern River’s population is expected to nearly double by 2036 and the Southern River Business Park will provide valuable employment opportunities close to home, generating new business and boosting the local economy.”

Cygnet West selling agents Greg O’Meara and Angette King are confident remaining lots will soon be under contract.

Releasing a commercial business park on this scale is an unusual step for local government, representing the culmination of decades of planning by the City and promising substantial benefits to the community.

The return on investment is expected to be significant and net profits from the sale will be reinvested in future community projects in the City, which will be of enormous social benefit.

Southern River Business Park will also feature three large areas of public open space, which will act as a buffer for a large neighbouring wetland.

The release of land at Southern River Business Park follows the City’s successful development and sale of 42 residential lots overlooking extensive public open space at
Robinson Park, in 2019 and 2020.
